Privacy Policy for BL Media Analytics Service
Last updated: 8 August 2025
This privacy policy explains how the BL Media Analytics Service (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects and
processes information when you visit a website that uses our analytics tracking pixel.
We operate this service to help website owners understand how their sites are used, improve
performance, and maintain security — while respecting the privacy of all visitors.
1. Who We Are
The BL Media Analytics Service is operated by:
BL Media
BL Media, Unit 3, Kitley Units, Yealmpton, United Kingdom
privacy@bl-media.co.uk
We act as a data controller for the analytics data we collect on behalf of our clients.
2. What Data We Collect
- Anonymised IP address — IPv4 addresses have the last octet set to 0; IPv6 addresses
are masked to /64. We do not store your full IP address.
- Coarse location — Country, Region/State/County, City. We do not store exact GPS
coordinates or precise location data.
- Browser and device information — Browser name and major version, operating system,
and device type. We do not store the full User‑Agent string.
- Page information — The page visited, the referring page (if available), and the
timestamp of the visit.
3. How We Collect Data
- Data is collected via a 1×1 pixel image request when a page loads.
- We do not use cookies, localStorage, or any other persistent identifiers.
- We do not use fingerprinting techniques to track users across sites.
4. Purpose of Processing
- Website usage analytics — to understand how visitors use our clients’ websites and improve
their content and performance.
- Service monitoring — to ensure the availability and security of the websites we support.
- Aggregated reporting — to provide website owners with non‑identifiable statistics.
5. Lawful Basis for Processing
Our lawful basis under the UK GDPR is Legitimate Interest (Article 6(1)(f)):
- Purpose: To provide website owners with basic, privacy‑friendly analytics without
tracking individuals.
- Necessity: We collect only the minimum data required to produce meaningful aggregated
statistics.
- Balancing test: The data is anonymised or minimised to reduce privacy impact,
and cannot be used to identify you as an individual.
6. Data Retention
Raw analytics data is retained for 90 days. After this period, only aggregated,
non‑identifiable statistics are kept.
7. Data Sharing
- We do not sell or share analytics data with advertisers or third parties for marketing
purposes.
- We use a third‑party geolocation service to determine coarse location from anonymised IP
addresses. This service does not receive your full IP address.
8. Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Request access to the data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to our processing of your data.
To exercise these rights, contact us at: privacy@bl-media.co.uk
